 #3 - What my own lolita lifestyle is like 

Iive never been a fan of the "lifestyle lolita" girls who seem to have some sort of superiority complex, like completely changing who they are to fit the ideal of a perfect princess, forsaking EGL because it's not 100% asspats, etc.
of course i enjoy "lolita" pastimes like shoving as much cake in my face as possible, drinking tea, and doing crafty stuff. but, i guess to me, a lolita lifestyle is one that is is hedonistic. it is selfish and self-satisfying to spend time, effort, and money on acquiring frilly dresses (i fully admit that i'm a selfish person).
lolita has probably made me more interested in clothing in general, and has introduced me to a lot of brands (lolita and non) that i probably wouldn't have heard of otherwise!
i have a really hard time meeting and connecting with people, but lolita has helped me to make friends. to be honest, i think all the friends i have now i met through some connection with lolita; whether they are lolitas themselves, (perhaps non-wearing) friends of lolitas, or no longer wear the fashion now.

everybody probably has this on their lists! momoko is often idolized as a perfect lolita, but in reality she's pretty rotten (self-centered, manipulative). my kinda gal

2. any jan svankmajer films

i'm a big fan of stop-animation, and his works are always unsettling

3. cranford

a mini-series chock-full of sassy old english ladies

4. the duchess

& 

5. the secret of moonacre

clothes and setting porn yaaaaas!!!

Lolita 52 Challenge #1

worst blogger ever, i know. life happens.

to inspire myself, i'm going to attempt Fyeahlolita's Lolita 52 Challenge!
i'd love to see how others respond. a few of my friends are also trying it

#1 - 5 pieces that every lolita wardrobe should have (regardless of style)

1. petticoat/pannier
this is an absolute must. no exceptions.

2. willingness to improve yourself
even a great outfit can be improved upon. be willing to accept criticism, don't get huffy about it.

3. a sense of style
of course you can always just buy the full set of matching headbow, dress, and socks. but even those who wear all brand can still look bad if they have no style. having the skill to coordinate an outfit with pieces from various places and make it look good is a major asset.

4. at least some basic experience with makeup
i know some people are really into the "i'm a natural beauty princess"-bs, but everyone looks better with some enhancement. even just a little (light eyeshadow, mascara, tinted moisturizer, lip balm) can help you look more polished.

5. one really decadent dress/outfit for special events
something that shows you off and gives you confidence. not something you'd wear everyday.

i know my answers aren't really "items" per say, but since clothes are a given, i thought i'd include what else i thought was important

my friend and i were hungry for some fried fatty sugary goodness, guess where we went

this box was released during krispy kreme's chocolate karnival campaign

found this really cute cake at a department store in shibuya, couldn't resist

creamy mami x harajuku brand limited shop

Shibuya Parco had a limited shop featuring Creamy Mami items!

some japanese fashion brands (Angelic Pretty, Metamorphose, Putumayo, Galaxxxy, Shampooooo) collaborated to produce special things for this shop, plus there were other Mami goods

i was lucky enough to get a ticket for a meet & sign event for Creamy Mami's voice actress, Takako Ohta!

did you know Ohta-san is a real idol singer?

there were probably about 50 people at the event, i think most of them knew each other. i haven't been to an event like this before, it was great that everyone was friendly!

Ohta-san wore a Mami sweatshirt from Galaxxxy

first there was a talk session, then rock-paper-scissors for prizes

Ohta-san signed this art for each person, and also chatted with them a bit

Ohta-san is really cute and her skin is so beautiful. she said Mami's transformation phrase for me!

at shinjuku maruione, on the first floor, there is stand staffed by maids and butlers

it is an off-shoot of the famous butler cafe swallowtail

in august, my friend maki invited me to attend misako's tea party

a cute vintage/country style cafe in Parco

they have amazing tart!

they have a parfait for each astrological sign, and usually a few extra seasonal ones

good food and a variety of drinks too!

i've really gotten into products from lush

while i don't buy into the "all natural" bs (a lot of their products still use synthetic ingredients/sls), they smell soo good

i got skincare gel (for oily skin) and some honey-scented lip balm

helmut lang

last year i ventured to the helmut lang press room sale and ended up with quite a haul

2 jackets, cardigan,  & 5 tops all for about the price of 1 jacket and 2 tops retail

not too bad! 

they've had a couple since then but haven't found this amount of goodness

they had much more men's items than women's, especially samples

i'm a fan of helmut lang, especially the jackets. the design aesthetic is simple/minimalist but very flattering!

helmut lang is actually owned by link theory japan (that also owns theory)

school and everything has been really busy for me and eating up all my time
also i have well over 1000 photos to edit!
